MEMORIES OF THE ATHENA CRUISE SHIP, CHOCOLATE AND AVOCADOS

My husband, Al, and I took a trip to England for our 35th anniversary. Al and I are history buffs. While staying in London, we decided to take a cruise that would take us to Scotland and Ireland.

Al found the Athena cruise ship. The fact that the ship had been responsible for the sinking of the Andrea Dorian in 1956 added to the historical context of our trip. Al and I looked forward to restful nights on the water and days spent site seeing.

Our first day on the Athena, I decided to treat myself to an afternoon at the ship’s salon. I was going to thoroughly enjoy our rhapsody of the seas adventure. Al wanted to visit the casino. We decided to meet back at our room later. The ship’s salon had gift jars of facial masks. I picked up a jar of chocolate mask and one of avocado. I got to the room before Al and decided to get ready for dinner. Al arrived while I was in the bathroom. When I came out he was spitting something into a tissue. “I sure hope the food at dinner is better. This stuff is horrible” he said and pointed to the opened jars of facial masks sitting on a counter. Dinner was much better.
